Checking and Savings Help and Support

Welcome to Texas Gulf Bank’s customer service help and support center. Please click on the frequently asked questions below to get quick answers to these questions, or click on the topics to the right to get help for a specific service.

Why does Texas Gulf Bank place holds on my checks?

We place holds on checks to ensure that the payer has the bank funds necessary to clear it. In addition to protecting our bank, a hold can protect you from spending funds from a check that is later returned unpaid. That is important because it could help you avoid accidental overdrafts and related fees.

Why does the lobby open later than expected in the morning?

Most of our services can be provided at the drive-through window. Opening the lobby later allows our staff time for meetings and educational trainings so that we stay current in the many regulations that are required of financial institutions.

How long do I have to wait to receive a debit card?

We are happy to order a debit card for your account immediately. They usually will arrive by mail in 2 – 3 days.

Why do I have a limit on my debit card? Can you raise the limit?

Daily limits are placed on your card for security reasons. This way your bank account won’t be drained of funds if theft or fraud occurs. For this reason, we may approve raising your limit temporarily, but seldom is a permanent limit raise approved.

Am I required to order checks to open a checking account?

You may open a checking account without ordering checks.
