Tap2Local™
Take card payments anywhere.
From your phone.
Tap2Local turns your smartphone into a full payment terminal — accept cards in person, by link, or by QR code, with funds settling straight into your Texas Gulf Bank business account.
Built around the way real businesses operate.
Your smartphone is the terminal. No dongles, readers, or contracts for equipment you’ll outgrow.
Card sales land directly in your Texas Gulf Bank business account. No third-party wallet to manage.
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover — plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. One agreement covers it all.
Questions go to a real banker in your community, not an out-of-state call center. The same team that handles the rest of your banking.
Straight answers, no jargon.
Do I need a Texas Gulf Bank account to use Tap2Local?
Yes. Tap2Local requires an active Texas Gulf Bank business checking account so card sales settle directly into a bank you already know. If you don’t have one yet, our Treasury Services team can open your account and activate Tap2Local in the same onboarding.
What does it cost?
There are no hardware fees and no monthly minimums.
Transaction pricing:
Tap to Pay (in-person) — 2.60% + $0.15
QR codes and payment links — 2.90% + $0.30
International cards — 3.60% + $0.15
Additional fees include card account update ($0.25), disputed transaction ($15.00), and completed Real-Time Payment ($0.30).
Which phones and tablets work?
Most modern iPhones and Android devices with NFC support Tap to Pay. Payment links and QR codes work on any device with a browser. Treasury Services will confirm device compatibility during setup.
How long does setup take?
Most existing Texas Gulf Bank business customers are activated within a few business days of signing the agreement. New customers can usually complete account opening and Tap2Local activation together in one to two weeks.
When do I see the money?
Card transactions typically settle to your Texas Gulf Bank business checking account the next business day. Refunds and disputes follow standard card network timelines.
Is it secure?
Yes. Tap2Local uses PCI-compliant, tokenized card processing. Card numbers are encrypted by the card networks’ own infrastructure and never stored on your phone or in your business records.
Can my employees take payments too?
Yes. You can grant access to team members, set transaction limits, and track which employee processed which sale. Refund and dispute permissions can be limited to owners or managers.
